Shane Larkin looks on at a game against the Wizards

After an impressive collegiate basketball career in Miami, Shane Larkin made his way to the NBA. Unfortunately, his NBA career didn't pan out the way the guard hoped.

Although Larkin didn't make much noise in the NBA, the guard has certainly made a name for himself in the EuroLeague.

Before taking a look at Larkin's current endeavors in the EuroLeague, let's take a look at his career in the NBA.

Shane Larkin was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks as the 18th pick in 2013. Although he was drafted by the Hawks, Larkin was immediately traded and found himself on the Dallas Mavericks for his rookie season.

Larkin's rookie season wasn't very special. In 45 games played, he averaged 2.8 points and 1.5 assists in just over 10 minutes of playing time logged per game. These unimpressive numbers led to the guard moving to New York the following season.

His sophomore year was comparatively impressive. With significantly more playing time on hand, the guard notched an average of 6.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He also started 22 games for the New York Knicks that season.

Unfortunately, Larkin ended up on another team the following season. After yet another unsuccessful stint with the Brooklyn Nets, the guard found himself out of the league during the 2016-17 season.

Surprisingly, the Miami product made his return to the NBA for the 2017-18 season with the Boston Celtics. By doing this, Larkin declined a massive $6.3 million offer from EuroLeague team Baskonia, whom he played for in the 2016-17 season.

As a reserve guard, he recorded an average of 4.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He even started two games for Boston that season.

The Celtics were the last NBA team Shane Larkin played for. In the offseason, Larkin was prepared to take on more responsibilities. Having set his mind on breaking out of the third-string point guard role, Larkin made his way to the Euroleague once more.

Shane Larkin has done well for himself in the Euroleague

Following the stint with the Boston Celtics, Shane Larkin signed a one-year deal with Turkish team Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

In only his first season with the team, Larkin shone bright as he led Efes to the 2019 EuroLeague championship game. After tremendous performances early in the tournament, he was also named the EuroLeague round 25 MVP.

Although the team lost the finals game, Efes were doing well in the Turkish Basketball Super League. Having made it to the playoffs, Larkin also led Anadolu Efes Istanbul to their first title in 10 years and was named MVP in the process.

Although Larkin remains a reserve in most cases, he is one of the most noteworthy and well-paid players in the EuroLeague. Larkin also holds the record for the most points scored in a single EuroLeague game with 49 points against FC Bayern Munich.

Having played in 15 games this season, Larkin is putting up an average of 11.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
