Who is Anansa Sims’ ex-husband, David Patterson, who had altercation with Matt Barnes? All you need to know

Matt Barnes recently had an unusual encounter with former NFL player David Patterson outside of the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers game. Barnes was aggressive as he spat on Patterson in public, causing a ruckus.

David Patterson used to play for the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL and Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He went undrafted in 2007 and was signed by the Falcons, kick-starting his professional career. The Ohio native played for Ohio State University.

Patterson was married to Sims for seven years. Spanning from 2010 to 2017, the couple had three children together before splitting up. The couple appeared on a reality TV show called "Beverly’s Full House" while they were married.

Patterson left the playing field after suffering a serious injury and decided to live a normal life.

David Patterson's girlfriend filed a restraining order against Matt Barnes

The person on the receiving end of Barnes' spit was Patterson, who used to be the husband of Barnes' fiancee, Anansa Sims. The former NFL defensive end isn't fond of the former NBA small forward. In October of 2022, David filed a restraining order against Matt for "mistreating" Sims' three sons.

Patterson is in a current relationship with Melisa Andino.

Matt Barnes reportedly received death threats from David Patterson

According to The Blast, Barnes has reportedly received death threats from his fiancé's ex-husband. The former NBA player had just filed his own restraining order against Patterson in fear of his and his family's lives. He also shared that his partner, Sims, has also filed her own restraining order against David.

About two months ago, after a trial, my fiancee was granted a permanent three-year restraining order against David for her protection and the protection of their three minor children."

Barnes also brought up that Patterson has threatened to shoot him. The former NBA star confirmed this and has publicly said that he has video evidence of the threats.

"David’s threat to shoot me was captured on video and was presented as evidence at the restraining order trial against him. David also admitted in open Court during his testimony that he made this violent threat to me. I believe David is jealous of my relationship with his ex-wife, angry about his custodial situation, and targets me for harassment as a result."

Barnes also told that Patterson has reportedly been threatening him verbally. This instance has occurred "numerous times" already, according to the host of All The Smoke.
