Detroit Pistons guard Killian Hayes has garnered some attention as of late. Taking a closer look at the shooting guard's personal life, we shed light on his lineage by taking a look at his father, DeRon Hayes.
Killian Hayes was born on July 27, 2001, to DeRon and Sandrine Hayes. As a French-American citizen, Killian has had the opportunity to represent the French national team from a very young age. By earning a gold medal and MVP honors at the 2017 FIBA U16 World Cup for France, Hayes set himself apart as a prospect.
However, the talent that Killian has for basketball hasn't developed in a vacuum. Much like the young Pistons combo guard, his father, DeRon Hayes, was also a fairly prominent collegiate athlete.
DeRon Hayes made a name for himself as a forward at Penn State. DeRon established himself as a rather impressive scoring force with the team during the early 1990's.

After ending his collegiate career, DeRon didn't have the opportunity to play basketball professionally in the NBA. However, this gave him an opportunity to test his skills overseas.
In the process of doing so, DeRon had a rather fruitful career playing on the Portuguese and French professional basketball circuits. He also spent time playing in Sweden, Ukraine, and Russia.
However, it was during his time in France that he met his wife Sandrine. DeRon reportedly played for two French clubs during his stint in the country. He played with SLUC Nancy and Cholet.
Killian's mother, who was a resident of Cholet at the time, met DeRon through a teammate. She is reported to be a former basketball player as well.
Given that both his parents were athletically inclined, Killian certainly hit the genetic jackpot. However, this hasn't necessarily resulted in superstar-level talent in the NBA.
Emerging as a contributor, Killian Hayes continues to make a name for himself as a role player and secondary playmaker for the Detroit Pistons.
Killian Hayes finds himself in some trouble
Following the events of the game against the Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons guard Killian Hayes may be in a rough spot. After an altercation with Moe Wagner, Hayes was ejected from the game. However, this may not be the end of matters.
Given the dynamics of the altercations in Detroit, Hayes has followed suit with a rather drastic action. In this regard, several fans have called for a suspension. While Wagner and Pistons forward Hamidou Diallo were also ejected from the game, they may not face the same repercussions.
In this regard, the situation appears rather bleak for Hayes going forward. With the verdict still pending, the Pistons guard may be set to miss a few games as a penalty.
