Mark Adams had a twin brother named Matt, and he was known to be an excellent person. According to sources, his brother passed away in January of last year. To honor his legacy, Texas Tech established a scholarship fund under his name. He was a native of Brownfield, Texas and made a lasting impression on people.
According to many, he was a gifted athlete and was given a football scholarship at Texas Tech. Matt was also a boxer who won the Golden Gloves title. During his lifetime, he served as a school board member and was one of the founders of Fibertex Gin.
Reports came in that Mark Adams had just recently stepped down as the head coach of Texas Tech.

Why did Mark Adams step down as head coach?
Prior to Mark Adams' decision to step down as the head coach for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, he came under fire for his comments that recently became exposed. There were no direct quotes as to which words he used, but it was described as "an inappropriate, unacceptable, and racially insensitive comment."
The school has since released a statement, which touched a bit on what the former head coach said. According to Texas Tech, Adams referenced Bible verses during a coaching session with a player.
"Adams was encouraging the student-athlete to be more receptive to coaching and referenced Bible verses about workers, teachers, parents, and slaves serving their masters," Texas Tech stated.
Mark Adams coaching record
The 2022-23 campaign is his second of the season with the team. During his first season, Adams led the Red Raiders to an impressive 27–10 record. They reached the NCAA Tournament and made it all the way to the Sweet Sixteen. Their season ended after losing to Duke.
In his second season as head coach, Adams led the team to a 16–15. Their record wasn't as impressive compared to their previous stint. They finished in ninth place in the Big 12 before getting suspended by the school.
