LA Lakers fans are unhappy with Russell Westbrook's activity on social media after Dan Hurley rejected the team's offer to become their head coach. Hurley decided against signing a long-term contract with the Lakers to remain with the UConn Huskies.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Hurley turned down the Lakers' six-year, $70 million offer to become the historic franchise's next head coach. The two-time NCAA champion coach preferred going after a three-peat with the Huskies next season rather than taking charge of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
While fans are upset that they are not going to get one of the best basketball minds as their head coach, Westbrook seemingly celebrated the Lakers' missed chance. The former MVP liked Woj's post about the news on Hurley on Instagram.

LA Lakers fans cannot believe Russell Westbrook was being "petty" more than a year after his disastrous tenure with the franchise ended. Some fans even took shots at the triple-double king for no longer being the player he used to be.
"Who's this role player?" a fan sarcastically asked.
"Buddy is still mad we traded him," another fan claimed.
"Don't he got a backboard to hit??" one fan commented.
Russell Westbrook didn't have the best time with the Lakers and often got criticized by their fanbase. Westbrook joined crosstown rivals LA Clippers but was still unable to get past the first round for the second postseason in a row.
"Buddy got bounced in the first round with a superteam," one fan wrote.
"Russ going to be begging for jobs in the offseason," a fan claimed.
"So two hospital workers, a strip club addict, and a construction worker all walked into a bar for some shots. They all left after the first round," another fan joked.
Former LA Lakers player comments on Russell Westbrook's time in Hollywood
Former LA Lakers guard Danny Green was on the most recent episode of "The Draymond Green Show" to discuss the state of the team's head coaching search. On the subject of performing under the bright lights of Los Angeles, Green brought up Russell Westbrook and his struggles playing for the Lakers.
"I've seen certain guys, even the most toughest guy - Russell Westbrook. There's not a guy that I know in this league that is as tough mentally than him, you know what I'm saying? That carries that confidence, chip on his shoulder night in, night out don't give a damn but who says anything. And he went to LA and he just looked like a different person and I'm like, Damn!' Those lights are different in that organization. Those fans are different. It can change you, it can kind of break some people and it can make or break your career," Green said.
Russell Westbrook spent a season and a half with the LA Lakers. It was disastrous from the start as the former MVP was unable to mesh with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He became a constant source of frustration for the fanbase and was subjected to a lot of criticism online.
