Saben Lee is a young point guard who just entered his third season this year. Lee previously played for the Detroit Pistons before he was sent to the G League. He is currently playing for the Delaware Blue Coats. Lee has been dominant in the G League, where he's averaged 26.3 points, 6.7 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game in his career. This ultimately caught the attention of the Sixers.
Saben Lee signs with the Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers recently signed Saben Lee as their newest point guard. Lee signed a two-way contract with the Sixers last Tuesday. It means he now plays for both the Sixers and the G League's Delaware Blue Coats. According to Yahoo Sports, the Sixers organization waived rookie Michael Foster Jr. to acquire the more experienced Lee.

Lee traveled with the squad when the Sixers went up against the Orlando Magic last Friday. Before the game began at the Amway Center, Lee shared his thoughts on joining Philly.
“I was ecstatic. I was really happy, excited for it, I was excited to get out here and get to work so I was really grateful for the opportunity," said Lee.
According to Sports Illustrated, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers discussed why he signed Lee. He suggested that because the team is currently without three of its primary ball handlers, he saw the need to bring in a point guard.
“I watched an hour of film (of Lee) so you may have watched more. We just needed another guard. De’Anthony is not 100% so he’s a step away from us down to two guards on our team as far as ball-handling guards so we just needed another guard,” said Doc Rivers.
With both James Harden and Tyrese Maxey currently sidelined, it makes sense for Philly to sign a new point guard. De'Anthony Melton is also struggling with back issues and the organization thinks Saben Lee will be a good fit.
Lee previously played for the Detroit Pistons in his first two seasons. He averaged 5.6 points, 3.3 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game for the Pistons. Given how Lee has upped his game in the G League, things could work out differently in Philly.
