NBA rumors suggest the LA Lakers could add another guard to their depth chart in the form of Tyler Dorsey. He was selected as the 41st pick in the 2017 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Dorsey, 26, hasn't found his feet in the league.
The Greek-American guard played a decent role in his rookie year with Atlanta, appearing in 56 games and starting five times. The former Ducks prospect averaged 7.2 points per game, shooting 36.7% from long range. Since then, he has bounced around the league.
The Hawks traded him in his sophomore year to the Memphis Grizzlies. Dorsey played the majority of his time with the Grizzlies' G-League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle. The Grizzlies gave him a good opportunity late in the season.
Tyler Dorsey played 21 games, making 11 starts for the team. He averaged a career-high 9.8 points and 3.3 rebounds while playing 21.3 minutes per game. He shot 42.9% from the field, including 36.6% from the 3-point range.

Dorsey played in the Israeli league for two years with Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he won the championship in both years. After that stint, Dorsey returned home to play in Greece. He enjoyed a successful run there in 2021 with Olympiacos, where he won the Greek League championships, Greek Cup and Greek Cup MVP.
Tyler Dorsey's last stop in the NBA and professional basketball was with the Dallas Mavericks. The 2011 champions signed him on a two-way deal on July 23, 2022. The Mavericks waived him on Dec. 26.
Dorsey has played alongside NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo for the Greek national team at the 2022 Euro Basket. He tied Giannis for a game-high score of 27 points in the team's opening game against Croatia, which they won 89-85.
LA Lakers work out Tyler Dorsey as a potential 10-day signing
The LA Lakers are in the market for potential 10-day signings. Tyler Dorsey is among the players they recently worked out. According to Yahoo Sports, coach Darvin Ham and GM Rob Pelinka attended Dorsey's session with the team.
The Lakers remain one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA. They are making 33.7% of their shots from deep, the fourth-worst mark in the league. LA averages 10.3 makes per contest, the second-worst among all 30 teams.
That could be the reason behind the Lakers working out Tyler Dorsey. His 3-point shooting could come in handy for the team. The Lakers look thin at the moment, with injuries cropping up. Guards Austin Reaves, Russell Westbrook and Lonnie Walker IV have struggled with injuries lately.
The LA Lakers have relied on these players on the offensive end of the floor, and their health is crucial. A 10-day inclusion like Dorsey's could help the team give these players an appropriate rest as the All-Star break nears.
