The 2024 Paris Olympics concluded its men's basketball tournament on Saturday with a showdown between the host nation, France, and the star-studded USA team in the finals. France kept the game competitive, maintaining a single-digit deficit for most of the matchup, but Team USA, led by Steph Curry, pulled away in the final quarter to secure their fifth consecutive Olympic gold.
In the opening quarter, Team USA set the pace, establishing a 20-15 lead over France. LeBron James kicked off the scoring with a powerful dunk, while Devin Booker fueled the offense with seven points in the first quarter.
As the second quarter progressed, the game remained tightly contested, with France briefly taking the lead. However, the Americans answered back with critical plays, including a corner three-pointer from Steph Curry and another three-point play from Booker.

The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with France closing the gap. Key shots from Victor Wembanyama and Evan Fournier kept the game within reach. In the decisive fourth quarter, Team USA began to widen the gap, driven by Curry's stellar shooting. He nailed four crucial 3-pointers in the fourth, including a step-back and a difficult dagger that pushed the lead to 96-87. Despite France's efforts, including a deep three from Wembanyama, Curry's shooting was too much to overcome.
A fastbreak dunk from Booker sealed the victory, and Team USA claimed their fifth straight Olympic gold with a 98-87 win.
Wembanyama led France with a game-high 26 points and also grabbed seven rebounds. Yabusele added 20 points. For Team USA, Curry spearheaded the scoring with 24 points, with Durant and Booker adding 15 points apiece. LeBron James had 14 points, 10 assists and six rebounds.
