Anthony Davis remains one of the NBA's top talents because of his versatile game on both ends of the floor. He was one of the first modern-day bigs who could do more than just post up and dunk over his counterparts.

However, AD's game on offense has been diminished since the 2019-20 championship winnings season. It's primarily his jump shot inefficiency that has limited him from having the same impact on offense.

Nevertheless, Davis is seemingly looking to get back on track under new Lakers coach JJ Redick, who wants him to shoot more 3s. Akin to several other players, Davis has been relentlessly working on his long-range shooting.

However, the latest video from practice has fans mocking the star center after Anthony Davis missed a series of 3s before finally knocking one down.

One fan roasted him for his shot mechanics:

"Why is AD shooting like a 5-year-old, leaning back and shooting super high in the air?"
"Brick by brick," added another.

Anthony Davis comfortable with JJ Redick's plans for him

Anthony Davis could have a more influential role in the Lakers system next year under JJ Redick. The first-year coach has spoken about making the star center an offensive hub, similar to Nikola Jokic, ensuring the Lakers maximize their potential through him.

Davis has no issues with carrying out that role. He said that he has pulled it off before and is comfortable with Redick's plans.

“I’ve always been comfortable in that role,” Davis said during Lakers Media Day. “Every team that I’ve played on going back to New Orleans, I’ve always caught the ball in the middle of the floor just kinda directing the offense and things like that so that’ll be nothing new."

Davis also mentioned how Redick wants him to shoot more 3s next year.

"He has been on me all summer about shooting 3s. Even in the Olympics when I would make a 3, he would text me and say that’s what I want to see and things like that. But for him, it’s definitely gonna be shooting more 3s."

Anthony Davis leaned into his playmaking skills last season under Darvin Ham when the Lakers' offense shifted to a five-out model. He was efficiently tackling double teams with his improved passing.

However, LA couldn't run plays through him consistently. The schemes and structure under Ham saw the team go through brief stretches where AD was a non-factor on offense because he didn't get the ball in his hands frequently. Redick aims to change that and ensure the Lakers have Davis running most of their offense.
