Dallas Mavericks All-Star Luka Doncic has been ruled out of Thursday's clash against the LA Clippers. He will miss his seventh game of the year with a new injury ailment. Doncic played the last game against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, leading the team to a 143-133 win, tallying 45 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists, two blocks and three steals.
His absence against the Clippers surprised many as there was no injury reported until the Mavericks officially downgraded his status on Wednesday.
What happened to Luka Doncic?
According to the Mavericks, Doncic is out against the Clippers because of a left heel contusion. He sustained the injury against the Warriors after inadvertently getting kicked on his leg. It's the second time he's dealt with a similar contact that has led to an injury. He was dealing with a calf contusion on Media Day after a teammate inadvertently kicked him in the injured area.

Since then, Doncic has dealt with groin, knee and wrist issues. It's the first time he's on the injury report because of the heel injury.
What is Dallas Mavericks' record without Luka Doncic?
The Dallas Mavericks have been impressive in Luka Doncic's absence, unlike previous seasons. Their depth has allowed them to stay afloat. In the six games he's been on the sidelines before Thursday's skirmish, the Mavericks won five times.
Kyrie Irving was the key architect of that stretch. He's questionable, but likely to play in Doncic's absence, so the Mavericks' chances of beating the Kawhi Leonard-less Clippers remain realistic.
