Some NBA fans are not happy with the Charlotte Hornets giving Miles Bridges a multi-million contract. Bridges has spent his entire career with the Hornets and finally got his first big contract following his off-court problems that began in the 2022 offseason.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Bridges agreed to a three-year, $75 million contract to stay with the Hornets. Several teams were interested in signing the forward but he chose to remain in Charlotte. He averaged 21.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists last season.
The Hornets likely view Bridges as an important part of the team's core along with LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller and Mark Williams. He's expected to have the same role as last season at power forward.

However, some NBA fans are upset with the Charlotte Hornets for giving Miles Bridges an enormous contract. One fan even tagged Mr. Beast to take a look into the deal due to the YouTuber's Feastibles brand being among the team's primary sponsors.
But why are fans upset with Bridges getting paid? It's because of his domestic violence cases over the past two years. He was set to become a restricted free agent in 2022 when he was arrested for felony domestic violence a day before free agency started.
Bridges allegedly assaulted the mother of his two children, Mychelle Johnson, and was charged with one felony count of injuring a child's parent and two felony counts of child abuse. He initially pleaded not guilty on all three charges before pleading no contest to the felony count of injuring a child's parent.
Miles Bridges was sentenced to three years of probation, while the two remaining charges were dismissed. He was also suspended for 30 games and eventually missed the entire 2022-23 NBA season before returning to the Hornets by signing his qualifying offer.
However, the Michigan State product violated his probation after an incident with Johnson last October when he allegedly threw billiard balls at her car. Both of the incidents in 2022 and 2023 were allegedly witnessed by his two children. He turned himself in 10 days later and faced three charges.
Fast forward to February, all three charges were dropped after Johnson gave conflicting stories of what happened. Bridges was suspended for 10 games to start last season but was able to play a total of 69.
Miles Bridges initially wanted to join the LA Clippers
Before the Charlotte Hornets secured Miles Bridges back, the forward was looking to join the LA Clippers. Broderick Turner of the LA Times reported earlier this week that Bridges would consider joining the team that originally drafted him because they are open to giving players second chances.
Bridges was referring to the Clippers giving Kevin Porter Jr. a two-year deal after spending last season out of the league. Porter also had a domestic violence case that was dismissed.
The Clippers originally drafted Bridges in 2018 before trading him for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The franchise was trying to re-haul their roster following the departure of Paul George in free agency.
