After not being able to work out an extension with the LA Clippers, Paul George is on the move again this summer. Along with joining a new team in the Philadelphia 76ers, he'll also be donning a new jersey number.
When George broke into the league with the Indiana Pacers, he wore the No. 24. However, he ended up switching to No. 13 in 2015. This created one of his many nicknames in the league, "PG 13."
For the past decade, Paul George has worn 13 for every team he's played for. That run will have to come to an end with the Sixers because the number is unavailable.

13 is among the handful of numbers the Sixers have retired and put in their rafters. This is in honor of Wilt Chamberlain, who played for the franchise from 1965 to 1968.

Chamberlain had a dominant run with the Sixers, winning MVP in each of his three seasons there. During his brief tenure, the Hall of Fame center averaged 27.6 points, 23.9 rebounds and 6.8 assists.
Since the number is retired, George has no choice but to don a new number as he starts his journey with the Sixers.
Paul George's jersey reveal gets spoiled
While his playing career goes on, Paul George has become one of the many NBA players to start his own podcast. He tried to have some fun with his new jersey number on the show, but the surprise ended up getting ruined.
Over the weekend, George posted a snippet for an upcoming episode. In the clip, he is wearing his Philadelphia 76ers jersey and shows his co-hosts his new number. In the caption, the All-Star forward said he plans to tell the world soon.
Unfortunately for Paul George, the surprise did not go the way he hoped. In the press release officially announcing his signing, his number was placed in it. George will be donning the No. 8 for the Sixers.
Following the premature reveal, George plans on giving the reasoning behind his choice in the near future.
Now with the Sixers, George has formed the NBA's newest big three with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Things might not have gone how they wanted regarding his number, but he is on track to have a lot of success on the basketball court.
Aside from signing George, the Sixers have made a flurry of moves to fill out the roster. Their most recent move was signing Caleb Martin following an impressive run with the Miami Heat.
Armed with a pair of star-level running mates and a complementary supporting cast, George is in a good position to contend for a championship moving forward.
