NBA fans liken Bronny James to iconic anime character amid ongoing draft speculations

Fans have started comparing Bronny James to the anime character Boruto, noting their shared desire to carve out their own identities separate from their famous fathers. Bronny, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, is aiming to be drafted in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Recently cleared by the NBA's medical panel to join a team under draft consideration, Bronny has expressed his wish to be drafted based on his own abilities rather than his lineage.

That mirrors Boruto's sentiments in the anime, where he resolves to create his own story despite being the son of the legendary ninja Naruto.

However, fans also question if Bronny’s similarity to Boruto implies that he might face significant challenges, much like the prophecies surrounding Boruto's future.

Bronny James doesn’t want to be known as LeBron’s son, wants to make his own name

In several interviews during the 2024 NBA Draft Combine, Bronny James expressed his desire to establish his own identity rather than being recognized solely as LeBron James' son.

When asked about the narrative he hopes to create, he said that he wants to be known as a genuine person.

"I'm a genuine person. I've gotten a lot of lessons from my mom and my dad. But also putting that 'Bronny James' narrative out there instead of just being LeBron James' son. I feel like that's really important for me," he said.

LeBron has repeatedly expressed his desire to play alongside his son, but Bronny James has said that his goal has always been to establish his own name and make it to the NBA and not just to play with his father.

"My dream has always just been to put my name out, make a name for myself," he said. "And of course, you know, get to the NBA, which is everyone's goal that was here. I never thought about playing with my dad but, of course, he's brought it up a couple of times."

Bronny James's draft stock has been rising since the start of the Draft Combine, with ESPN ranking him as the 54th best prospect for this year's NBA Draft.
