On Friday, Brandon Ingram knocked down a game-winner over Anfernee Simons to give the New Orleans Pelicans their second win of the season. The game was a closely contested one with some added attention given the Ingram-Simons matchup. Simons shares a child with Aaleeyah Petty, who previously had a child with Ingram.

Late in the game, after the Pelicans overcame a 12-point deficit early, Ingram knocked down a game-winner over Simons. As he celebrated with his team, Trey Murphy made a sarcastic remark, referencing the two's unique connection:

“Yeah twin, tell her who better, tell her who better.”

Both Ingram and Simons contributed in a big way. The Pelicans forward finished the game with 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block. On the other end, Simons scored 24 points, dished seven assists and got a steal.

The two teams are scheduled to play two more times this season. Their next meeting is set for Sunday at 3 p.m. PT (6 p.m. ET). Their final meeting of the season will then take place on Nov. 4 in New Orleans.

"I saw a smaller defender" - Brandon Ingram reacts to game-winning shot over Anfernee Simons

While Trey Murphy dropped a playful line about Brandon Ingram and Anfernee Simons' baby mama after the game, Ingram kept things professional while speaking to media members at the post-game press conference:

"I just wanted to time it right I got to a spot I liked on the floor I saw a smaller defender so I just wanted to get as close to the basket as I could and then um you know I just shot it and it went in."

After being hampered by injuries throughout the 2023–24 season, the Pelicans acquired Dejounte Murray this offseason.

In their opening game of the year, they picked up a convincing win over the Chicago Bulls at home, with Ingram leading all scorers with 33 points. While he struggled with his shot at times on Friday, shooting 8-20 from the floor, he was able to come up big for his team when it mattered.
