LeBron James raved about LA Dodgers star Freddie Freeman’s first-inning home run in Game 4 against the New York Yankees on Oct. 29. James saluted the eight-time MLB All-Star with a shout-out on X, formerly Twitter. The LA Lakers superstars wrote that fans “are not worthy” of the slugger’s historic run but misspelled Freeman’s name.

James corrected himself a tweet later by emphasizing “Freddie” instead of the original “Freddy” post. On Monday, the 2024 World Series MVP appeared on the “New Heights” podcast hosted by Super Bowl winners Jason and Travis Kelce. Freeman told the brothers that he was happy the four-time NBA MVP eventually got the spelling right as he is very particular with his name.

LeBron James went on Instagram to react to Freddie Freeman’s comments:

“FREDDIE! My bad man! You was the boogie man out there so I just thought like Mr. Kruger!”

James initially misspelled Freeman’s name but was right about the first baseman being the “boogie man” against the Yankees. The lefty homered in the first four games of the series, and became the first player in MLB history to bat a home run in six straight World Series games. Freeman, playing for the Atlanta Braves, also hit the ball over the wall in Games 5 and 6 against the Houston Astros in 2022.

The Dodgers lost Game 4 despite Freeman’s homer but ultimately won the championship in Game 5. On Friday, the Lakers hosted the champs at Crypto.com Arena. James and Co. greeted the Dodgers’ star-studded lineup that included Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Jack Flaherty and others.

Freddie Freeman calls LeBron James the GOAT

After admitting he was happy LeBron James corrected the misspelled name, Freddie Freeman had this to say about the LA Lakers superstar:

“LeBron’s come to a couple of games throughout the course of the regular season. It’s pretty cool. I mean, as athletes, you just respect everybody and LeBron is the greatest basketball player of all time.”

Freeman added that he must be doing something to get the shout-out from James. The Dodgers’ first baseman added that it was “pretty special” to get praise from the four-time NBA champ.
