Anna Sedokova, the ex-wife of deceased Latvian basketball player Janis Timma, posted an emotional video on her Instagram story on Tuesday amid news of her ex-husband's passing. Timma, 32, was found dead at the entrance of a building in Moscow, Russia from an apparent suicide, according to reports.
A devasted Sedokova was visibility in tears and spoke in Russian as she made a plea to people on social media:
"You have no idea what hell I have lived through over the last few years. I just have to save my child from this information. Please, I beg you not to share anything."

"But now I beg you, please, I have a child, he is small, he should not know anything. I beg you very much," Sedokova said, adding, "I have never understood how people who have this in their lives can record stories."

Sedokova, 42, and Timma did not have any children together, although Sedokova has three children from previous relationships. The couple was married in 2020, and their divorce was finalized just this month.

Timma made numerous stops in Latvia, Russia, Spain, Greece, and the US throughout his professional basketball career, which spanned 16 seasons. Most notably, he was part of his national team.
NBA champion and fellow Latvian Kristaps Porzingis of the Boston Celtics posted an Instagram story to show support for his fellow countryman. He reposted a photo of Timma with the caption:
"🕯️ rest in peace JT"

Timma, a 6'7" forward, was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies with the last pick (60th) of the 2013 NBA Draft. In June 2015, his rights went to the Orlando Magic. He wasn't able to suit up for an NBA game, but he was part of the 2021-22 Summer League as a member of the Lakeland Magic, Orlando's G-League affiliate.

Earlier this year, he signed a contract with Liga ACB's Monbus Obradoiro, which is based in Spain.
