Zach Edey is one of the top rookies this season, but he has had a rough 2025 so far. He has not scored in double figures since Dec. 27 in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans. His minutes are also limited recently though the Memphis Grizzlies continue to win.
How did the Grizzlies big man perform tonight against the Charlotte Hornets? Edey finished with seven points, six rebounds and one block in 19 minutes. He went scoreless in the second half and didn't play in the fourth quarter.
Memphis was up by as much as 30 points at one point, and the Hornets only showed resistance late in the game. Desmond Bane led the way for the Grizzlies in their 132-120 win. He had 24 points and eight assists, while Ja Morant put up 16 points, 13 assists and four steals.

How did Zach Edey perform against the Charlotte Hornets?
Zach Edey was part of the starting lineup with Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Jaylen Wells and Jaren Jackson Jr. He scored his first basket with an alley-oop dunk from Morant at the 9:52 mark.
Edey added another two points to his tally with a hook shot two minutes later to give Memphis a 14-9 lead. He also grabbed three rebounds and blocked one shot in six minutes in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Grizzlies rookie added just three points and three rebounds. It was a dominating half for Memphis as they took a 78-48 advantage after 24 minutes.
With the game seemingly over, Zach Edey barely played in the second half. He was on the floor for around six minutes before committing his fourth personal foul and was subbed out. He didn't return in the fourth quarter as the Memphis Grizzlies still managed to get the 132-120 win.
What's next for Zach Edey and the Memphis Grizzlies?
With their victory over the Charlotte Hornets, the Memphis Grizzlies improved to 29-15 for the season. They are just half a game behind the Houston Rockets for the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference. They are also on a four-game winning streak.
Zach Edey continued his double-digit scoring drought with a seven-point performance on Wednesday. The Grizzlies continue their homestand with two more games against sub-.500 teams New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz.
These two contests might help Edey gain his confidence back. He's also enduring a broken nose though he's wearing a face mask. Maybe if could adjust to the mask quickly, he'll get his same groove back from the first two months of the season.
Edey is averaging 5.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in January, playing just 17.8 minutes.
