Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans traveled to the Bay Area on Tuesday night to face the Steph Curry-less Golden State Warriors.
Williamson played his third consecutive game after missing the season opener due to an illness. He finished with a game-high 31 points, but it was not enough to prevent the Pelicans' 124-106 loss to the Warriors.
The two-time All-Star was fantastic, especially in the first half when New Orleans was in control of the game. However, Golden State's hot shooting and defense from beyond the arc was too much for the Pelicans. They couldn't stop Buddy Hield and Lindy Waters III from heating up, blowing a 20-point first-quarter lead.

How did Zion Williamson perform against the Warriors?
Zion Williamson started the game for the New Orleans Pelicans alongside CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, Herb Jones and Daniel Theis. Williamson was not at his best in his first two games after coming off an undisclosed illness that kept him out in the season opener.
Williamson finished the first quarter with seven points, two rebounds, one assist and one block. He even hit a 3-point shot when Draymond Green dared him to shoot.
In the second quarter, Williamson started the scoring with an and-one play. He played the majority of the period and helped keep the Warriors at bay. His aggressiveness had a huge impact on the Pelicans' 51-47 lead at the half.
However, things took a turn in the third quarter when the game became a back-and-forth contest. Zion Williamson was still aggressive, but his teammates failed to find him. On the few occasions they did, the Duke product turned the ball over. The 24-year-old had eight turnovers.
The Warriors completely outplayed the Pelicans in the final period to turn a 20-point deficit into an 18-point victory.
What's next for Zion Williamson and the Pelicans?
Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans return to Chase Center on Wednesday for another game against the Golden State Warriors. It's unclear if Williamson will play the second game of a back-to-back considering he's still on a 30-minute per game restriction. Williamson is also coming off an illness that affected him in his first two games.
But what's next for the Pelicans after their second game versus Golden State?
The Pelicans are back at the Smoothie King Center on Friday to start a four-game homestand. They will welcome the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, Portland Trail Blazers and Cleveland Cavaliers.
