With his remarkable physical attributes and exceptional abilities on the court, Nicolas Claxton has emerged as a key contributor and performer in recent years for the Brooklyn Nets.
Claxton debuted for Legacy Charter High’s varsity team in his sophomore year and went on to have an excellent high school basketball career. In 89 games that he played, Claxton averaged 13.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game on an impressive 50% field goal shooting and became only the fourth player in high-school history to record over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
Despite displaying promising potential in high school, Claxton became a three-star recruit and committed to the University of Georgia over offers from Maryland, Arizona, Notre Dame, Florida State, and South Carolina, among others.
As a member of the Georgia Bulldogs, Claxton had a tough first season but showed signs of improvement. In his sophomore season, Claxton developed as one of the leading contributors for Georgia, averaging nearly 13 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 2.5 blocks a game on 46% shooting.
In early 2019, Claxton decided to declare for the 2019 NBA Draft and was picked 31st overall by the Nets, thus beginning his professional career.
