Nico Mannion is among Italian basketball’s new generation of players who have quickly earned recognition for their versatility and talent on the court. Born on March 14, 2001, in Siena, Italy, Nico burst out in popularity when he got to play Collegiate Basketball at the University of Arizona.
Before playing College basketball, Nico was a highly talented junior athlete whose goal was to represent the United States on the international stage. He worked hard to earn his place in the U.S Under-16 National team, even being a roster finalist for the U16 team but got cut at the last minute.
However, being an Italian-American helped his cause as he got approached by the Italian basketball federation and was eventually recruited to represent the Italian U16 national team for the 2017 FIBA Under-16 European Championship.

Nico’s father Pace Mannion was himself a talented Basketball athlete back in his day. With a career that spanned close to eighteen years, Pace played six of those in the NBA after being drafted 43rd overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 1983 NBA Draft.
Playing for Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, Arizona, Mannion performed like a flawless athlete with skills that seemed ahead for someone his age. His dynamic style of play, combined with excellent court vision gave him a crucial edge over his peers and competitors. He was willing to put in the work and stand out amongst his peers.
In his three years of High School basketball representing Pinnacle, Nico played in 85 games and averaged a whopping 24.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. He received numerous awards and recognition for his dedicated efforts and successes as an elite High School performer, going down in history as one of the most hyper-talented athletes in the history of High School basketball.
Entering College Basketball, he played one year for the University of Arizona, averaging 14 points, 5.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game, receiving selections in 2019-20 All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Freshman.
Following a successful campaign at Arizona, Mannion declared his eligibility for the NBA Draft in 2020. Selected 48th overall by the Golden State Warriors, he ended up following in his father’s footsteps who also was picked in the second round by the same team.
Now playing overseas in the Lega Basket Serie A, Nico Mannion continues to develop and improve. His ability to handle the ball proficiently, make accurate passes, and score with precision makes him a tough opponent and one of the best up-and-coming young players in the game.
