
Omar-Sharif Cook is an American-Montenegrin former professional basketball player and an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers as of February 2025. Before starting his coaching career, he played for various teams, including the Casademont Zaragoza, a professional basketball club based in Zaragoza, Spain; the San Pablo Burgos, a professional basketball team based in Burgos, Spain; the Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria – Claret, S.A.D., a professional basketball club that plays in the Liga ACB and the EuroCup, and many others.
Cook was drafted by the Orlando Magic as the 32nd overall pick in the second round of the 2001 NBA draft but later played for the Fayetteville Patriots in the NBA D-League. In 2004, he played for the Portland Trail Blazers and in 2005, Cook played for the Toronto Raptors. He played a total of 22 matches in the NBA in his playing career, where he scored 37 points and made 46 assists. Cook won the FIBA Champions League Championship in 2020 and 2021.
