The Punjab Steelers beat the Delhi Capitals 58-47 in Game 8 of the UBA Championship at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday.
The early part of the first quarter didn't see much action from either side. Mid-way through the quarter, however, the Steelers started assuming control by netting in points regularly; they finished the quarter with a 19-16 lead.
The second quarter saw the Steelers take further control of proceedings. Astonishingly, the Capitals could score just once while their opponents netted in 12 points to eventually finish the opening half 31-18 up.
The third quarter once again saw slow play from both sides despite each of them scoring 15 points, and while that helped the Capitals get an opening into the match, it proved to be a miniscule one and they continued to find themselves trailing 33-46 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth and final quarter saw the Capitals put in one big final effort to claw their way back, but the Steelers took full advantage of the poor play of the Capitals’ frontline to win the quarter narrowly 14-12 and with it the match.
Final scoreline: Punjab Steelers 58 beat Delhi Capitals 47.
