He was also nominated for the McDonald’s All-American team in 2021. During his senior season, Sandfort averaged 16.6 points per game, shooting 56% from the field and 49% from beyond the arc, along with 7.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Following a successful high school career, he joined the Iowa Hawkeyes, where he continued to develop as a player. In his final season, he played in and started 34 games, averaging 16.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
