The Philadelphia 76ers were one of the three teams without a single draft pick on draft night. The Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks were the other two teams on the list. The Chicago Bulls found ways to get draft capital for the 2023 draft, but the 76ers chose not to go that route.

The 76ers had their second-round pick taken away, just like the Chicago Bulls, due to tampering violations involving P.J. Tucker and Danuel House Jr. This year's draft saw 58 players being drafted instead of 60, and the Philadelphia 76ers were one of the teams who did not get a chance to use their pick. However, this did not mean that the 76ers did not get a chance to add rookies to their squad.

Philadelphia 76ers 2023 Draft Picks

The 76ers have three new rookies joining them this season — Ricky Council IV, Azuolas Tubelis, and Terquavion Smith. All three of these rookies received two-way contracts.

Ricky Council

Ricky Council is a 6 foot-6 inch guard who played college basketball for Wichita State and Arkansas. In the 2022/23 college season, he averaged 16.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He shot 43.3% from the field, including 27.0% from deep. Council is touted for his defensive prowess and lacks a perimeter shot in his arsenal.

Terquavion Smith

Terquavion Smith averaged 17.9 points, 4.1 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game for NC State University in the 2022/23 season. The All-ACC Second Team nomination is a 6-foot-4 guard who has great shooting mechanics and has shown improvement in his ball distribution skills.

Azuolas Tubelis

The last rookie that the Sixers signed is Azuolas Tubelis, who had a three-year career at Arizona and won the Pac-12 Tournament MVP. Tubelis was part of the All-Pac 12 First Team in 2022 and 2023. The 6 feet 11 inch Lithuanian averaged 19.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game and has drawn comparisons with Domantas Sabonis and Bam Adebayo.
