Philadelphia 76ers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves preview

The Sixers made a splash in the offseason by signing Paul George to a four-year, $212 million deal. The addition of George will help ease some of the pressure on Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. Philly has a legit chance of being a contender in the East if Embiid and George can stay healthy. In the Sixers’ first preseason game, Maxey scored 21 points.

The Timberwolves made it to the Western Conference finals last season under the leadership of Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. Clearly not satisfied with that result and by keeping the future in mind, the Wolves traded Towns on Oct. 2 to acquire Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo from the New York Knicks.

While Randle is still recovering from a shoulder injury that he suffered last season, DiVincenzo made his mark in Minnesota’s first preseason game against the Lakers with 11 points in 10 minutes.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves predicted starting lineups

Joel Embiid (rest) didn’t make the trip for the game. Philly coach Nick Nurse should start:

PG: Tyrese Maxey SG: Kelly Oubre Jr. SF: Paul George PF: Caleb Martin C: Andre Drummond

Julius Randle is still recovering from a shoulder injury. While Anthony Edwards was rested for the preseason opener, he should see some minutes on Friday. Expect Minnesota coach Chris Finch to start:

PG: Mike Conley SG: Anthony Edwards SF: Jaden McDaniels PF: Naz Reid C: Rudy Gobert

Editor's note: These are the predicted lineups and could change based on the availability of players.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves prediction

When healthy, the two teams are evenly matched. However, with Embiid certainly not playing in this game, expect Minnesota to cover the spread for a win. This is going to be a test between two great offensive teams, and as such, the team total should go past 223 points.
