The Portland Trail Blazers end 2024 at home, as they welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to the Moda Center on Monday. Both teams are enjoying mini-revival lately. The Blazers have won their last two games, while the 76ers are on a three-game winning streak.

This will be the first game of the two-game series between the two teams. The last time they met was back in Jan. 2024 when the Blazers were able to halt their three-game losing streak with a 130-104 thrashing. Joel Embiid was absent during that game, but he will be in the lineup this time.

The Sixers have changed since their early season struggles. With Embiid returning in the lineup, the Philly outfit has enjoyed a fruitful festive December, winning nine of their 12 games. They come into this game fresh off a 114-111 win over the Utah Jazz. They'll look to cap off the year with another strong performance.

Meanwhile, the Blazers had a rough start, compared to their objectives and how they ended up last season. But somehow, they enter the last game of the year on the back of the first two-game win streak of the season, including a stunning 126-122 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

They need to sustain this winning momentum if they want to re-kindle any type of playoff push, and a win on Monday could be paramount for that

Nick Nurse faces a nervous wait ahead of announcing his starting five to take on the Blazers. Joel Embiid is listed as questionable with a foot fracture but should be fit enough to play 20+ minutes. Andre Drummond is also listed as questionable due to a toe injury, with his status to be determined closer to tip-off.

Meanwhile, Jared McCain, Eric Gordon and KJ Martin remain out.

Barring any surprises, this should be the ideal lineup for Nick Nurse to field on this year-end matchup: Paul George, Caleb Martin, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr.

Amid the hectic festive schedule, the Blazers have been sweating over the fitness of several key players. Robert Williams III is dealing with an ankle injury, but it is unclear if it will sideline him on Monday. Jerami Grant, who played 42 minutes, scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists, in the last game against the Mavericks, is listed as questionable with a facial contusion.

Toumani Camara (foot) missed the Mavs game will have his status re-evaluated closer to tipoff. Additionally, guard Dalano Banton remains doubtful as he continues to recover from a hip injury.

Deni Avdija, Jerami Grant, Deandre Ayton, Anfernee Simons, and Shaedon Sharpe looks to be the starting five as they aim third successive win of the season.
