Division rivals Phoenix Suns and LA Lakers resume their rivalry on Friday at Crypto.com Arena. The game also features two of the best players of the generation, Kevin Durant and LeBron James, adding more weight to this contest.
The Lakers are off to a 1-0 start after beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103 on opening night. Everything clicked for the Lakers, especially coach JJ Redick, in his first game. The schemes were on point, and the half-court offense looked better than the entire 2023-24 season.
The emphasis on playing through Anthony Davis also paid off. The star big man put up video game numbers in the season debut, tallying 36 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and three blocks. He was 11-of-23 from the floor and 13-of-15 from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, the Suns barely escaped past the LA Clippers in their season opener, winning 116-113 in overtime. Kevin Durant was the star of the night with his clutch play. The 36-year-old turned back the clock with a 25-point game, adding seven rebounds, one block and three steals, shooting on 47/40/78 splits. Durant saved the game and sent it to overtime with the game-tying shot in regulation.
