Ranking average NBA ticket prices for all teams in 2023-24: Least to most expensive

NBA Teams and their ticket prices
NBA teams and their ticket prices

Average NBA ticket prices say a lot about the reputation and popularity of the team. They also decide the overall attendance and the team's revenue generation. The cheaper the price of the tickets, the less popular the team is, which is also an indication of its performance on the court. On the other hand, the more popular team sells tickets at higher prices.

Sometimes, teams lower the price of the ticket for fans to increase attendance, which makes it more lively and exciting for the fans.

Ticket prices help teams generate more revenue, which can be used to elevate infrastructure and attract famous players. Historically, the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks have been the most popular teams in the league due to their success in the past and the cities they are based in.

Another factor that impacts the popularity of the team and eventually the ticket prices is the presence of a superstar player on the roster. Players like LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are primary factors in influencing ticket prices.

Here is the list of teams with average ticket prices for the 2023-24 season.

Average ticket prices for NBA teams in 2023-24

#30 Indiana Pacers: $138

The Pacers have barely been one of the highlighted teams in the NBA except when Reggie Miller and Paul George were with them. However, the addition of young players to the roster might change their fate and ticket prices in the upcoming seasons.

#29 Oklahoma City Thunder: $148

There is a wide consensus that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren will take the Thunder to new heights in the coming years. The lower price for their tickets is mostly due to their lack of success in recent years.

#28 Detroit Pistons: $153

The Pistons barely have any player on their team to attract fans to the arena. They have been pretty much obscure since Blake Griffin left. In recent memory, they haven’t had any significant success that would give them the leverage to increase ticket prices.

#27 San Antonio Spurs: $157

Victor Wembanyama can singlehandedly change the fate of the franchise in the future. His presence might change the average price of the ticket in the upcoming month. He has already shown that he is a box office player.

#26 Houston Rockets: $159

The Rockets haven’t achieved much after James Harden left. Their lack of success is the sole reason for their cheap ticket prices.

#25 Orlando Magic: $163

The Magic’s fate might change in the upcoming years. Paolo Banchero is good news for the team. However, for now, they have very little excitement to offer to their fans.

#24 Washington Wizards: $163

Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma can electrify the arena on a given night, but not every night. The Wizards have been pretty much unremarkable as a team since John Wall was traded.

#23 Utah Jazz: $168

After breaking the core of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, the Utah Jazz might want to rebuild, but it comes at a price, and that is low attendance and cheaper ticket prices.

#22 Charlotte Hornets: $169

LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward are two of the biggest stars on the team. However, only Ball has the stardom and the ability to pull fans into the arena. Moreover, the Hornets have barely achieved anything as a team, except Michael Jordan being their former owner.

#21 Sacramento Kings: $173

The Sacramento Kings can surprise as a team, and they have been better recently. However, they still struggle to attract fans due to a lack of popularity.

#20 New Orleans Pelicans: $179

Zion Williamson hasn’t been a regular show in New Orleans. However, one of the reasons for the team’s low ticket price is its popularity. The lack of success from the team in recent years is one of the reasons for the low ticket price.

#19 Denver Nuggets: $184

The low ticket price says a lot about the low attendance at the NBA Finals. Despite being the defending champions, the Nuggets are yet to establish themselves as a certified winning team in the West. Perhaps, their fate may change in the coming years.

#18 Minnesota Timberwolves: $201

Karl Anthony-Towns and Anthony Edwards have not achieved much together. The lack of success from the team in recent years is the reason for it not being one of the top teams in terms of ticket prices.

#17 Cleveland Cavaliers: $207

After landing Donovan Mitchell, the Cavs acquired Max Strus and Georges Niang this offseason, and they could make some noise this season. As long as LeBron James played for the Cavs, they were one of the most expensive ticket sellers in the league. However, with the King not in town, their tickets are not as expensive.

#16 Portland Trail Blazers: $198

Damian Lillard is not a Blazer anymore, and the team barely has an exciting player to offer to the fans. Portland was one of the most exciting teams in the 90s, but not anymore.

#15 Memphis Grizzlies: $226

The Grizzlies’ ticket prices might skyrocket in the future if Ja Morant stands tall on the promise that he offers. However, despite their notoriety, the Grizzlies have not achieved anything significant in recent years. Morant is box office but not yet at the level of a certified superstar.

#14 Atlanta Hawks: $234

Let’s be honest, the Hawks have very little to offer to the crowd other than Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. While they can surprise the best teams in the league, fans have shown more leniency toward bigger players' dominance than Young’s trickery on the court.

#13 Miami Heat: $230

The Heat as an organization is perhaps the best in the league. However, since LeBron and Dwyane Wade left the city, they barely have landed a superstar player.

#12 Toronto Raptors: $245

The Raptors are the only team based out of Canada, and they have all the good reasons to have the ticket prices their way. The Raptors have regular visits from Drake in the arena, which spikes up the ticket price.

#11 Dallas Mavericks: $249

Earlier, it was Luka Doncic alone, but after Mark Cuban brought Kyrie Irving on the roster, the Mavs have two of the most exciting players in the league on their roster. Their ticket price is going to be high.

#10 Milwaukee Bucks: $252

There is a chance that the Bucks’ ticket prices might increase in the midseason. After landing the second superstar player beside Giannis Antetokounmpo, their value and fame will increase.

#9 LA Clippers: $262

Perhaps the Clippers are at the bottom of the top 10 because most of the fans in Los Angeles are Lakers faithful. However, the presence of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George makes them one of the most offensive teams in the league.

#8 Philadelphia 76ers: $264

Despite the drama surrounding them, the 76ers have the reigning league MVP and the reigning scoring leader in Joel Embiid, who is also one of the most entertaining players in the league.

#7 Phoenix Suns: $285

The Suns would not have been ranked this high if they didn't have three of the best players on their roster. With Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, they are perhaps the most exciting team to watch.

#6 Chicago Bulls: $276

Michael Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls, which is one of the primary reasons for their high ticket price. Presently, they are one of the most exciting teams in the league with a young and promising roster featuring Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan.

#5 Brooklyn Nets: $283

The Nets are based in New York, which attracts a lot of fans' attention. Previously, the team has seen some highly famous players like Durant, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Garnett and Vince Carter.

#4 Boston Celtics: $303

The Celtics are tied with the Lakers for the most championships in the NBA. Their reputation has been largely due to their winning culture. Naturally, they command a ticket price as high as this.

#3 New York Knicks: $346

The Mecca of Basketball, the Madison Square Garden is enough to attract hoards of fans. Additionally, the Knicks are based in New York City, which adds to their ticket price.

#2 LA Lakers: $518

Arguably the most famous team in the league, the Los Angeles Lakers have the biggest star players of this generation. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the attendance of the Hollywood stars is enough to make the Lakers one of the most famous teams in the league.

#1 Golden State Warriors: $611

There is very little doubt that the Warriors are the most exciting team in the NBA. They have two of the greatest 3-point shooters in the league's history. They have a notorious Defensive Player of the Year in Draymond Green. Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the Warriors is their on-court masterclass. Watching the Warriors play is a basketball lesson in itself courtesy of Steve Kerr.
