Regarded as one of the greatest European guard prospects ever, Ricky Rubio is a Spanish professional point guard. Born in El Masnou, Spain, on October 21, 1990, he holds the record of being the youngest player to have ever played in the Spanish ACB League at the age of 14. He was also one of the youngest players to play in the EuroLeague. Playing as a point guard, he added numerous accolades to his name.

Rubio made a name for himself before making his NBA Debut. He received an NBA All-Rookie First Team honor in 2012. However, he had already received a bronze while playing for Spain in the 2005 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship. He signed his last contract worth $18.44 million with the Cleveland Cavaliers on July 7, 2022, which Cavaliers and Rubio agreed to a buyout in 2023 and Rubio consequently announced his retirement from the NBA. He signed a contract with FC Barcelona on February 6, 2024.

Drafted as the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft, Ricky Rubio was picked by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played 12 NBA seasons for four different teams. He made his NBA debut with the Minnesota Timberwolves and played six seasons with them before being traded to the Utah Jazz. He played for the Utah Jazz till 2019.
