He then played two seasons of college basketball for the Texas A&M Aggies, where he was named a SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018.
The Boston Celtics picked Williams 27th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. Known for his elite shot blocking and rim protection skills, Williams was a part of the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2022. He scored his career-high 21 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 22, 2021.
