Born October 17, 1997, Robert Lee Williams III is an American center/power currently signed with the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA. Williams’ basketball journey began at North Caddo High School in Vivian, Louisiana, where he emerged as a consensus four-star recruit and was the number-one prospect in the state of Louisiana. He then played two seasons of college basketball for the Texas A&M Aggies, where he was named a SEC Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018.

The Boston Celtics picked Williams 27th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft. Known for his elite shot blocking and rim protection skills, Williams was a part of the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2022. He scored his career-high 21 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 22, 2021. After five seasons in Boston, Williams was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers on October 1, 2023, in exchange for Jrue Holiday.

Williams is currently on a four-year $48 million contract and is set to earn $11.5 million for the 2023/24 season. He will become an unrestricted free agent in 2026.
