Rumble The Bison is the official mascot for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team with superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and super rookie Chet Holmgren, that plays in the Western Conference of the NBA. His name is derived from the rumbling sound that thunder makes. He notably won the Mascot Of The Year award in 2009, but the reason this was special is because it was his debut year as a mascot. In addition to energizing the crowd with his dance and quips, he is known for his beloved interactions with fans, and for givings hugs high fives and t-shirts at random. His signature performance is to play the bass drums to hype up crowds before a game starts, and during half-time. Rumble is an ode to the native american tale of a bison struck by lightning while saving his herd from a storm in the Arbuckle Mountains.

Based on the Native American lore, Rumble is an anthropomorphic Bison who was struck by lightning to save his herd from a storm, and in the process gained superpowers. He now had the ability to walk on two feet, and came to possess increased strength and agility, as well as the ability to think on a higher level.. Rumble is an active part of the community in Oklahoma. He has supported various causes like giving out books to the students at Quail Creek Elementary School and distributing stationary to the needy at Educare Oklahoma. He has also contributed to the salvation army and many other notable organizations as part of the 12 days of giving by sprite.

Rumble The Bison Salary

Rumble is a brown and furry mascot that wears the Thunder jersey and has his name printed on the back with his logo. Sadly, Rumble is not a part of the highest-paid mascots list. Benny the Bull, Rocky the Mountain Lion, Hugo The Hornet, Go The Gorilla, and Harry The Hawk all earn more than Rumble. Although Rumble is a volunteer mascot and does not make any money, the team that performs his act still earns much more than the average mascot's salary and is reported to amass between $80,000-$100,000. According to the Thunder’s website, a one-hour visit by Rumble costs upwards of $600.
