Creighton vs Princeton Predictions & Game Preview- March 25, 2023 | March Madness 2023

Creighton v Baylor
Creighton bench celebrates during matchup with Baylor.

The Princeton Tigers are the biggest Cinderella story remaining in March Madness. After entering the tournament as a No. 15 seed, they upset second-seeded Arizona and seventh-seeded Missouri. Their 15-point victory over Missouri was the largest margin of victory for 15-seed in NCAA history. They will now shift their focus to sixth-seeded Creighton.

This will be no easy task for the Ivy League champions as Creighton (23-12) has been one of the more impressive teams through the first two rounds. The Bluejays, seeded sixth in the South, knocked off 11th-seeded North Carolina State in the opening round and kept No. 3 seed Baylor at a distance to produce a 85-76 victory.

Both teams share similar strengths as they are solid scoring and rebounding teams that do not make a lot of mistakes. Princeton (23-8) has the 12th-best rebounding numbers in the country, averaging 36 per game, while Creighton ranks 41st, pulling down 34.6 rpg.

The Bluejays enter the game as 9.5-point favorites and -580 on the moneyline.

Creighton vs. Princeton prediction:

Princeton has been an awesome story and should be proud of making it to this point in the tournament. However, their luck will run out here as Creighton is a determined team and has a more talented roster.

Expect Princeton to have some issues matching up with 7-foot center Ryan Kalkbrenner. The junior is Creighton's leading scorer at 15.7 points per game. He has a nice touch around the basket and is a terrific shot blocker on the defensive end. No one in Princeton's starting five exceeds 6-8.

Beyond Kalkbrenner, Creighton has a well-balanced roster that can beat you in a variety of ways. All five starters average 11.8 or more points per game. The backcourt duo of Baylor Scheiermann and Trey Alexander will also play a key role in the matchup. They combine for 26.1 ppg and both are dangerous shooters from deep.

While Princeton is a better team than it has been given credit for and deserves immense praise for its tournament performances, it feels the game will have to break exactly the Tigers' way to have a chance. In contrast, Creighton can win in a number of ways and have several favorable matchups that they could look to take advantage of.

Creighton has had the ingredients of a deep tournament team all season, but just wasn't able to put them together for most of the year. This looks to be changing and at the right time. Expect a statement performance from the Bluejays as they cruise through the Tigers in business-like fashion.
