LA Lakers Rumors: LeBron James not happy with Anthony Davis, Mavericks linked to injury-prone star

Some noticed how Anthony Davis acted when LeBron James broke the scoring record last week. Davis has already explained his side, but the latest rumors suggest that James is not happy with his teammate. The injury-prone star is also being linked to the Dallas Mavericks.

According to Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd, there's a rumored rift within the Lakers locker room between two of their best players. Cowherd even suggested that James is not only unhappy with Davis, but also with head coach Darvin Ham.

"LeBron and his camp have been frustrated by how many minutes he has to play," Cowherd said. "They can't depend on Anthony Davis. They are a little upset that Darvin Ham is not keeping the pressure on Anthony Davis. … I talked to an NBA source who I've known for a long time and he said, 'The Dallas Mavericks and Anthony Davis, keep your eye on it.'
"Anthony Davis is pouting. LeBron's holding him accountable. LeBron's not happy with him. AD's gone into a funk, it's not a coincidence."

Davis was having a monster season for the LA Lakers before suffering a leg injury in mid-December. He returned on Jan. 25 and has been averaging 22.5 points, 12.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.7 blocks per game.

Not bad numbers, but James has been the Lakers' best player since he turned 38 last December 30. Davis' actions last week when James became the NBA's all-time leading scorer was a serious talking point for some people.

But Davis has since explained that he was just unhappy the Lakers were losing the game against the OKC Thunder. James did break the scoring record, but they still lost to the Thunder 133-130.

"We're losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a game we needed," Davis said. "And I was pissed off that we were losing. It's that simple. It's nothing that has to do with Bron. He knows that.
"Everybody else is outside looking in, it's their opinion. But I was pissed off that we were losing the game."

The Lakers bounced back on Wednesday with a 120-102 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Davis had 28 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, but his Instagram account remains deactivated.

They are now just two games behind the OKC Thunder for the final play-in spot. However, they have a tough schedule following the All-Star break. They face just three teams with a worse record than them until the end of March.
