Anthony Davis not part of any trade talks at the deadline
When Anthony Davis didn't celebrate LeBron James' record-breaking shot on Tuesday, rumors started swirling that he might get traded by the LA Lakers. However, the trade deadline came and went, and Davis is still a member of the Lakers.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst confirmed on "This Just In" that the Lakers didn't have any trade negotiations involving Davis. Windhorst added that Davis wants to remain with the Lakers. He has a player option for the 2024-25 season.
"I have not heard Anthony Davis' name in any trade talks," Windhorst said. "But I will tell you this, Anthony Davis wants to be a Laker as far as I am told."
LA Lakers want to extend D'Angelo Russell's contract
The LA Lakers acquired D'Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley in a three-team trade with the Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers parted ways with Russell Westbrook and a protected 2027 first-round pick.
While Beasley has a team option for next season, Russell is in the final year of his contract. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers are interested in giving Russell a new deal. Wojnarowski noted that both sides could start negotiating this season or even during free agency.
"They've moved off of Russell Westbrook, and now D'Angelo Russell is a player I think they do have interest in talking about a contract extension with," Wojnarowski said. "Whether it's during the season or after the season when he's a free agent and can do a new deal."

LA Lakers interested in Danny Green if he gets bought out
Danny Green was traded from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Houston Rockets at the trade deadline. Green, who is in the final year of his contract, would love to be waived by the Rockets.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Green is garnering interest around the league. When Green gets waived or bought out by Houston, the LA Lakers are among the interested teams in his services. Green is familiar with the Lakers, helping the team win the 2020 championship.
"Danny Green is the interesting player in Houston," Wojnarowski said. "I'm told that he would like to be waived just like John Wall is being waived, and not have to do a buyout. Teams like Boston, Cleveland, Los Angeles, they have great interest in him."
