While the LA Lakers have continued to struggle this season, there have been plenty of rumors regarding the team potentially making a blockbuster move. Over the course of this season, NBA fans have heard everything from a potential LeBron James trade to a long-anticipated Russell Westbrook move.

In return, the LA Lakers have been linked to everyone from DeMar DeRozan on the Chicago Bulls, to Kyrie Irving on the Brooklyn Nets. in addition, it was reported late last year that the Lakers would be incredibly active prior to the trade deadline. Taking all of that into consideration, many figured it was only a matter of time before a trade was made.

Despite that, rumors have now emerged through the one and only Adrian Wojnarowski that there's no massive blockbuster deal on the horizon for the team. During a recent appearance on ESPN, Wojnarowski discussed the expectations for the Lakers going into the February 9th trade deadline that's rapidly approaching.

While he thinks the team will actively pursue a spot in the postseason, he doesn't think the team will make a massive deal like some have predicted.

"I think the Lakers are like a lot of teams, who want to add players, add talent, who think it'll start to get a little more serious among teams next week as we get in that 2-3 week period before the trade deadline. I think for a team like the Lakers, a player like Bojan Bogdanovich in Detroit. Who a lot of teams, his shooting, his floor spacing have interest in. "
"The price is significant for players like that. There just are not a lot of sellers yet in the marketplace. Multiple draft picks for a player like Bogdanovich right now, and what teams have to ask themselves, for an incremental improvement, how much are we willing to give up? I don't think there's any big, big deals for the Lakers out there."

The LA Lakers' season so far, and a look ahead

This season has been one filled with plenty of ups and downs for the LA Lakers. After starting the season with a five-game losing streak, the team was hopeful that a healthy Thomas Bryant and Dennis Schroeder could make an impact. Unfortunately, for the team, by the time the two men returned, Anthony Davis was injured.

With Davis still sidelined, the team has been left to fight and claw their way up the Western Conference standings if they have any hope of making it to the postseason. Although LeBron James has done his best to turn back the clock and put on sensational performances, it may not be enough.

While the 38-year-old continues to pursue Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time regular season scoring record, he and the LA Lakers have to win games. With just two games separating 13th place in the West and seventh place in the West, every win and every loss is absolutely massive.

Depending on how things play out before the trade deadline, the LA Lakers could very well see themselves jump up in the Western Conference standings.

Do you think they'll be able to make it into the postseason?
