Victor Wembanyama has elevated his play since his rookie season, likely paving the way for his first All-Star appearance. However, the San Antonio Spurs still find themselves outside of the play-in tournament scheduled for April 15 to 18, looking in. The Spurs are one of many teams looking to improve their roster via trade as the February 6th deadline approaches. The team has been linked to several players expected to be available, including former No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson.
Long-time NBA Insider Bill Simmons spoke about the potential team-up on "The Bill Simmons Podcast" on Thursday's episode where he talked about potential trades that could happen in the coming weeks. He dove into the topic, emphasizing that Wembanyama and the Spurs could be a surprise destination for Williamson.
Simmons talked about the team jumping at the opportunity, saying:
"This is also a holy s***. They traded for Zion team, which, if I was the Spurs, that would be the guy I targeted. Bring him into our organization, our culture, put him with Wemby. Now this is the most terrifying circle on anyone's schedule," Simmons said.

Williamson has missed 33 of 42 games this season and wishes to be traded to a larger market, according to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith. His injury history, coupled with a one-game suspension imposed by the Pelicans for being late to a team flight, are cited as the primary reasons the team is looking to trade him before the deadline.
The New Orleans Pelicans have been decimated by injuries this season, with 14 players missing games. Now fully healthy, the team faces a daunting challenge to re-enter the postseason race. As a result, the Pelicans are expected to shop their players for future draft capital, with trading Zion Williamson offering the best return.
If Victor Wembanyama is joined by Zion Williamson, can the Spurs make a playoff push?
If Simmons' prediction comes true and the San Antonio Spurs trade for Zion Williamson, he and Victor Wembanyama would create one of the NBA's most formidable front lines. Wembanyama's size and rebounding skills would complement Williamson's strength and speed, bolstering the Spurs in transition.
The Spurs are just half a game away from the 10th seed in the Western Conference, and adding Williamson would provide them a much-needed boost.
