Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma has been linked with several trade rumors for perhaps a couple of seasons now. The former LA Lakers showed that he can contribute to a championship team during his time with the 17-time NBA champion, but the Wizards haven't been competitive since he joined them in the blockbuster Russell Westbrook trade.
NBA insider Jake Fischer reported this week that Kuzma is interested in joining the Dallas Mavericks, who already have Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson, but are unlikely to make a move for the 2020 NBA champion.
"The market for Kyle Kuzma, I think is looking a bit tight right now. By all indications, he has a lot of interest in going to Dallas, which is interesting to me because he could have gone last year, but the Wizards waited for Kyle Kuzma and gave him the opportunity to accept that trade or decline.
"He chose to stay and that's when the Mavericks ultimately pivoted and brought in Daniel Gafford and now for Dallas to get to Kuzma's salary, they'd have to put Gafford back in the deal," Fischer said.

Fischer added that Kuzma's interest came almost a year too late, as they placed their attention on a different player last season and have seemingly moved on from this possibility.
In the end, the Mavericks landed Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington, two players who helped them reach the 2024 NBA Finals after finishing the regular season as the No. 5 seed.
Kyle Kuzma's mother reacts to trade rumors surrounding her son
Amid ongoing trade rumors, Kyle Kuzma's mother Karri shared her thoughts on the buzz surrounding the forward. She quote-tweeted one of the reports suggesting that the Wizards are actively trying to ship the 29-year-old.
“I'll sit this right here,” Karri Kuzma tweeted on Saturday.
The Washington Wizards are 5-24 this season and Kuz has only played 12 games. He's averaging 15.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. In recent weeks, the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors and LA Lakers have been mentioned as potential landing spots for the forward.
The Wizards aren't going anywhere with their current roster and a blow up looks like the best option at this moment. They parted ways with Kristaps Porzingis and Daniel Gafford to open spots for younger players, but their level has remained the same.
Dallas might make a move ahead of the trade deadline, but it's unlikely they make a swing for Kuzma.
