The LA Lakers have once again found themselves amid trade rumors and speculation as we approach the NBA trade deadline. The Lakers usually attach themselves to big names this time of year and have already been active on the trade market, bringing in Dorian Finney-Smith back in late December. Now, the rumors have the franchise attached to a bigger name, Myles Turner.

On Friday, Lakers reporter Jovan Buha had this to say on the trade market surrounding Turner:

"I have heard a little bit of chatter about that (Turner)... If Myles Turner is available, I think if you're the Lakers you have to go get him because he just fits perfectly next to AD on both sides of the floor... That would be the ideal even I'd say over Walker Kessler."

Turner is in the final year of a two-year, $40.9 million extension he signed with the Pacers before the 2023-24 season, meaning he is an unrestricted free agent after this season. Turner's pending free agency could give the Pacers a reason to trade him at the deadline for assets instead of risking losing him for nothing.

Either way, the status of Myles Turner will be something Rob Pelinka and the franchise will keep their eye on until the NBA Trade Deadline on Thursday, February 6 at 3 p.m. EST.

"I think we need another big" - Anthony Davis when asked about the Lakers' roster

On Thursday, Anthony Davis clarified that he believes LA needs another center. Part of that is influenced by Davis' belief that he is best playing power forward with another center beside him. Davis shared his thoughts in an interview with ESPN insider Shams Charania:

Charania asked Davis if he was satisfied with the current roster to which Davis responded:

"I think we need another big, I feel like I've always been at my best when I've been the 4 (Power Forward) and having another big out there. We know it worked when we won the championship with JaVale (McGee) and Dwight (Howard) at the 5 and I'm at the 4."

Davis feels the Lakers need another big, and they need one before the trade deadline. With the news of Myles Turner's potential availability on the trade market, it sounds like getting that big to play alongside Anthony Davis could happen. We will see if the Lakers and Pacers can make a deal happen.
