Russel Westbrook III is a professional American basketball player. He was born on November 12 1988 and is now a part of the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA.


Russell initially played basketball at Leuzinger High School. He started his gameplay as a point guard. Russell averaged 25.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He was just 5 feet 8 inches tall in his first season. His height rose to 6 feet 3 inches in the summer before the start of his senior year. Thereafter, he caught the attention of various college programs. Russell left his school and joined the University of California.


At college, Russell was a defender in his team. Russell joined the gym during the offseason to become physically stronger. The next season, he averaged 12.7 rebounds, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. At the end of the season, Russell received the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year award.


During Russell’s each season with UCLA, he led his college basketball team to the Final Four. Russell spent two years at UCLA and after that, he entered the 2008 NBA draft where he was selected by Seattle Supersonics, now called Oklahoma City Thunder.

Meniscus Tear

In April 2013, Russell Westbrook suffered a huge injury during a game against his former teammate James Harden. He collided with Patrick Beverley to steal an attempt. The collision resulted in a torn right meniscus. Due to this, he missed the rest of the games of the season.


In December 2013, Russell underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. He missed many games of the regular season due to this surgery. He was expected to return on February 20.


Hand Fracture

During the 2014-15 season, Russell fractured his hand while playing in the second game against the Los Angeles Clippers. This injury forced him to miss a few games of the regular season. He returned to the court on November 28 and continued his gameplay.


Knee Inflammation

In November 2018, Russell Westbrook had surgery on his knee to prevent inflammation. This forced him to miss the entirety of the preseason games and the first two regular season games.


Ankle Sprain

In a game against New Orleans Pelicans on November 5, 2008, Russel suffered from a sprained ankle. Therefore, he missed six games in the same season. After 10 days, he returned to the squad and played a game for 35 minutes.


Thumb Injury

While playing for the Houston Rockets in February 2020, Russell had a slight thumb injury. This injury did not have much impact on his gameplay. However, he missed just two games due to this injury as his thumb was distracting him.


Quad Injury

Russell suffered a torn quadriceps muscle in his right leg in a match against the Washington Wizards. He did not miss many games due to this injury but it surely affected his performance during the 2020-21 season. Russell missed two games on January 9 and 11 due to the strained quadriceps.
