Triple-doubles used to be a rarity in the NBA. Now they are worth a dime a dozen. We can thank Russell Westbrook for this numbness to triple-doubles. Russell Westbrook, fondly known as Mr Triple Double or Brodie, is one of the greatest basketball players the NBA has ever seen. His tenacious effort and infectious energy have made him a terror on the court and a teammate everyone wants to have on their team. Having averaged a triple-double for four seasons in the NBA, Westbrook is truly a statistical marvel.

While Westbrook might not be the player he once was, he still grabs the attention of fans and fills seats in arenas. A player of his stature and magnitude will tug the attention strings of the shoemakers and Westbrook is no different. In this article, we will take a look at Westbrook’s shoe line and analyse it in finer detail.

What shoe does Russell Westbrook wear?

Westbrook first signed a deal with Air Jordan in 2013 that was a five-year deal, which terminated in 2018. However, in this deal, Westbrook did not have his own shoe line; it was only a partnership with the Jordan brand to wear their shoes. In 2018, Westbrook signed a new 10-year deal with Air Jordan which would last until 2028 and this time, Westbrook came out with his own shoe line.

At 29 years of age, Russell Westbrook released his first trademark shoe, the ‘Why Not Zero.1’, this drew the attention of fans and players alike as it put him in the likes of Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Steph, KD, and other all-time greats as players to have their shoe line. This spoke to Westbrook’s greatness on the court and also the stature and popularity he had reached. The shoe was presented by Jordan himself at a Future of the Flight event in Los Angeles.

Westbrook stated in the event: ‘As a kid growing up in Los Angeles and standing in line to get other people shoes, you become aware of how fortunate you are to get sneakers. To be able to sit here now and hold my own shoe is an honor.

The ‘Why Not’ shoes have many colorways from bright crimson to phantom orange trance and are currently one of the most popular sneaker brands there are.
