Russell Westbrook was drafted with the 4th pick in the 2008 NBA draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. He recorded his first career triple-double with 17 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds against the Dallas Mavericks on March 2, 2009. He averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in his rookie season.
During his 2016-17 MVP season, he became the first player, since Oscar Roberston (1962), to average a triple-double for a season. He also broke Robertson's record for most triple-doubles in a season with 42. In the 2017-18 season, he became the first player in league history to record a triple-double against 29 different opponents and he recorded one against all 30 teams in January 2020 as a member of the Rockets. He became the fourth player in NBA history to record 100 triple-doubles on March 13, 2018.
