The San Antonio Spurs, established in 1967, have left an indelible mark on the NBA landscape. Originally known as the Dallas Chaparrals and later the Texas Chaparrals, the team found its permanent identity as the San Antonio Spurs in the 1973-74 season. The Spurs play in the western conference and are part of the southwest division of the NBA.

The team is led by Greg Popovich, widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in basketball history, serving as both president and head coach. Ownership of the Spurs lies with Peter J. San Antonio Spurs has been one of the two former ABA franchises to win the NBA championship. Spurs have a rich history. Some of the all time greats who have played for the Spurs are James Silas and George Gervin. In the early 80s they had Jon Moore and in the late 80s they had 1st overall pick David Robinson and Avery Johnson soon joined the Spurs in early 90s.

In 1997 with another 1st pick in the NBA Draft, they drafted Tim Duncan who went on to help the Spurs win multiple championships with Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili (who joined in early 2000s). San Antonio Spurs Last Playoff Appearance

Spurs last playoff appearance came in 2014. Spurs finished as the seventh seed in the West and they faced the Denver Nuggets in the first round. They lost 3-4 to Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic-led Nuggets.

San Antonio Spurs had a 2-1 lead but Jokic and Murray took them to game 7 where Murray with 23 points and Jokic came up with 15 rebounds to defeat the Spurs 90-86 in the first round.
