DeMar DeRozan's future with the franchise remains a mystery

DeMar DeRozan arrived in San Antonio last season as part of the blockbuster trade for Kawhi Leonard, and while he couldn't match his predecessors level of performances, DeRozan enjoyed a fine first season. Over 77 appearances, the shooting guard averaged 21.2 points, 6.2 assists, and 6.0 rebounds per game - and was arguably the Spurs' second-best performer behind LaMarcus Aldridge.

DeRozan's current deal will expire later this year, and Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News previously reported that the Spurs would consider offering the veteran a maximum deal. However, nearly a month has passed since the update, and talks between the Spurs and DeRozan have seemingly not progressed as planned.

In the meantime, DeRozan has been heavily linked with a trade, and the 30-year-old is among the most likely candidates to be moved ahead of the deadline. Ultimately, things don't look good, and any chance of DeRozan extending his deal will probably depend on his willingness to take a pay cut.
