Shaivonte Aician Gilgeous-Alexander, known as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, is a Canadian professional basketball player who plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA as of March 2025. As a senior in high school, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 18.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and four assists per game. He played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats and he became the regular starting point guard for the team and led them to the NCAA tournament. Gilgeous-Alexander was named the SEC tournament MVP in 2018.
Gilgeous-Alexander was drafted 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets but was later traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. After playing his rookie season with the Clippers, he was traded to the Thunder on July 10, 2019, for NBA All-Star Paul George. In the 2023-24 NBA season for the OKC Thunder, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 30.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game in 75 games played.
