Having been picked 38th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, it took years of dedication and hardwork for Dinwiddie to establish himself as a top-caliber player in the NBA.

Brought up in Los Angeles, California, Dinwiddie discovered his passion for basketball in his early teens. He attended William Howard Taft High School where he honed his skills and became an essential part of the team's offense. He averaged 11.2 points and 7.7 assists in his senior season and finished his high school career with 7.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.

Dinwiddie relied on his ability to create scoring opportunities with clever passing and awareness, making him one of the most highly-skilled passers in W.H. Taft's history. Coming out of Howard Taft, Dinwiddie was a consensus three-star recruit and committed to play for the University of Colorado. In three seasons for the Colorado Buffaloes, Dinwiddie averaged 13.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

In April 2014, Dinwiddie decided to forgo his final year eligibility and declared for the 2014 NBA Draft. He has since played for the Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks and currently the Brooklyn Nets.
