Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are finished for the 2023-24 season after losing in the play-in tournament on Tuesday. There's a wide consensus that the exit from the season might have also marked the end of the Warriors’ trio era in the league.
With Klay Thompson ready to become a free agent, there is speculation that the Warriors will not offer him maximum money. Draymond Green’s future with the team was already considered in jeopardy with the recent controversy surrounding his suspensions.
Although there's news of the Warriors going into the rebuilding stage, Curry's roster spot is simply untouchable. However, the two-time MVP is unhappy with the Warriors’ recent performance, and there are a few teams with a realistic shot at acquiring the four-time NBA champion that neither party can ignore.
Let’s look at three teams with a realistic shot at acquiring Steph Curry in a trade.

Steph Curry Trade Scenarios: 3 teams with a realistic shot at acquiring 2-time MVP
#3, LA Lakers
For any trade scenario for Steph Curry, LeBron James and LA Lakers need to be mentioned. The Warriors had shown interest in acquiring James before the NBA trade deadline in February. Now, it could be time for the Lakers to pull the trigger.
The Lakers have some excellent pieces on their roster that the Warriors would be more than happy to acquire for coach Steve Kerr. They can offer Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and D’Angelo Russell in the trade.
The Lakers also have a few future draft picks that they can use to acquire Curry. The Lakers have first-round picks from the 2029 and 2030 NBA draft.
LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Steph Curry on the same team? Every game will be a sellout.
#2, San Antonio Spurs
Pairing the greatest shooter in NBA history with the “Alien” would ultimately become the biggest nightmare for the other 29 teams in the league. Punishing the defense and the offense would be too easy for Victor Wembanyama and Steph Curry. Curry can score and feed Wemby, while the 7-foot-4-inch big man could dominate the defense.
If the Warriors trade Curry to the San Antonio Spurs, they could receive Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and a few first- and second-round picks. The Warriors can also get good picks in the draft that can thrive under Steve Kerr, alongside other rising players.
#1, Miami Heat
The Miami Heat culture and Pat Riley are a promising scenario for the Warriors star. If Curry chooses to join Miami, they would become the instant favorite to win the title. Teaming up with a playoff-caliber player like Jimmy Butler and a defensive stalwart like Bam Adebayo, Curry will have a chance to make the NBA Finals again.
The Heat can include a few big pieces like Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic, Duncan Robinson and a first-round draft pick in the trade. The Warriors would have crucial pieces to rebuild their team with Jonathan Kuminga, Herro and Robinson under Steve Kerr.
