Just five weeks before the first anniversary of Germany shocking the world by knocking Team USA out of the 2023 FIBA World Cup, the two teams face again on Tuesday. It's the final test for both USABMNT and Deutschland before they head to France for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Team USA looks to go into the quadrennial sporting event in stronger form after surviving an almighty scare against South Sudan on Saturday. It would be a massive upset for them should they struggle to find their feet in the competition; another reason as to why Steve Kerr must treat today’s game as something far from a friendly affair.
Germany will be preparing for the tough group stage, which consists of France, Japan and Brazil, so a challenge against the USA could be ideal. Gordon Herbert’s side may not have many well-known players, but a few could surely shock the USA during the final friendly.

Team USA vs. Germany: Head-to-head
Team USA vs. Germany is a fixture that has blossomed into a rivalry since Germany's victory over Team USA in last year’s FIBA World Cup. However, overall, the record just tips in Team USA’s favor with three wins and one loss against Germany since their first clash in August 2006.
Team USA vs. Germany: Ones to watch
Steph Curry vs. Dennis Schroder
Team USA’s guard Steph Curry will attempt to cause some problems for Germany’s defense. The 36-year-old is making his Olympic debut after struggles with injuries in 2016 and 2022. Having previously represented his country in the 2014 FIBA Men’s World Cup and the 2010 FIBA World Championship and will be looking to do more for his national team.
Captain Dennis Schroder will be a player to look out for; the Brooklyn Nets guard led Germany to their historic first FIBA World Cup title in 2023, averaging a tournament-high 17.9 points and 6.7 assists per game, earning him MVP honors.
After missing the 2020 Summer Olympics due to insurance issues, Schroder will be motivating his side to give it their best against the USA and not to be afraid of the outcome.
This should be a fantastic game for fans and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
