With the 2024 Paris Olympics on the horizon, juggernauts Team USA begin their path to Paris with a lone international exhibition clash against underdogs Germany in what is expected to be a sell-out crowd at the O2 Arena in London.
Cheryl Reeve’s women played against Team WNBA at the All-Star Game on the weekend. The result wasn't what most fans would have been looking for with the USABWNT coming up short 109-117. However, coach Reeve found several positives from the game, while admitting some areas require work.
That means tonight's game is an opportunity for the players to make an impression, even though the opposition is not one of the heavyweights, but rather Germany, who are making their debut at the Olympics.

Despite this, Team USA cannot take this match lightly, considering the outcome of their previous game and what their male counterparts experienced against Germany on Monday.

Team USA: Starting lineup and depth chart
As ever in a friendly, there'll most likely be a flurry of substitutions and it's extremely difficult to predict a starting lineup. However, Reeve is likely to field a line-up close to the one she started against the Team WNBA. She will probably choose to experiment with a new backline featuring A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu, Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and Breanna Stewart.
Germany: Starting lineup and depth chart
Lisa Thomaidis’ team has somewhat labored so far in warmup games results-wise with victories over England, Nigeria, Puerto Rico and Poland. However, the return of Satou Sabally could be a game-changer, as she will be key if Germany are to take anything from the game. Coach Thomaidis might shake up the lineup, potentially including a starting five of Emily Bessoir, Satou Sabally, Marie Berthold, Lina Sontag, and Marie Guelich.
Team USA vs. Germany: One Player to Watch
Despite Team USA having a roster filled with superstars, there is no debate about who their key player is. At 27 years old, Las Vegas Aces’ superstar A’ja Wilson is still the so-called 'big game player' of her team and continues to prove her greatness.
She is averaging 27.2 points and 11.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists across the WNBA season. The star center is always ready to pounce on both ends of the court. Ranked No.1 in the world, Team USA will be the favorite to put the game away, but with no previous meetings this is going to be an exciting encounter.
