Terry William Rozier III is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Miami Heat in the NBA. Nicknamed "Scary Terry," Rozier was born on March 17, 1994, in Youngstown, Ohio, to parents Terry Rozier Sr. and Gina Tucker. Rozier was raised by his mother and grandmother, Amanda Tucker. He has one brother and one half-sister.

Rozier was selected by the Boston Celtics in the 2015 NBA Draft with the 16th overall pick. The 2017-18 season was Rozier's breakthrough into the league. He put up his career triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in his first-ever NBA start. He became only the second player in NBA history with a triple-double in his first start.

After four and half seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, Rozier was traded to the Miami Heat on July 24, 2024, in a trade deal involving Kyle Lowry.

​Terry Rozier was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on March 17, 1994, to parents Terry Rozier Sr. and Gina Tucker. He was born in a rough neighborhood. His mother, Gina, was only 19 when she gave birth to him. Rozier was the second of her three children.

His father Terry Rozier Sr. was sent to prison just a month after his birth. As per reports, his mother stated that her son was a "hyper child, always running around the house." She raised him and her other children all alone. His father was released when he was five years old but went back to prison nine months later for partaking in a robbery and kidnapping in 2003.

It was when Rozier was six that his mother handed custody of him to her mother, Amanda Tucker, who lived in Shaker Heights, Ohio. This was due to threats on their life from his criminal father’s enemies. Rozier hated living with his grandmother initially, and would often scream and lash out at her. She revealed in an interview that she would sometimes have to pin him to the ground until he calmed down.

Rozier got both his mother's and grandmother's names tattooed on his forearms at the age of 14. He followed it up with a tattoo of his father’s face with the word “motivation” above it sometime later.

​Rozier attended Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. A top player in his high school, Rozier averaged 25.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.7 steals per game during his senior year. His impressive performances on the court earned him an All-Lake Erie League selection for three years. He was also voted 74th in recruiting ranking on ESPNU's Top 100 Players list in 2012.

Rozier initially committed to playing college basketball for the Hargrave Military Academy before jumping ship to Louisville. Rozier made the AAC All-Rookie Team averaging 7.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 37 games as a freshman. He led the scoring for the Cardinals with 17.1 points per game and was named second-team All-ACC in the 2014-15 season.​
