Terry William Rozier III, nicknamed "Scary Terry,", is an American professional basketball player currently signed with the Miami Heat roster of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Born March 17, 1994, in Youngstown, Ohio, to parents Terry Rozier Sr. and Gina Tucker, Rozier was primarily raised by his mother. His father spent most of his son's childhood in prison for his involvement in a robbery and kidnapping. Rozier's grandmother was an integral part of his life during his childhood. He has one brother and one half-sister.
Rozier attended Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. A top player in his high school, Rozier averaged 25.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.7 steals per game in his senior year.
Rozier initially committed to playing college basketball for the Hargrave Military Academy before jumping ship to Louisville. He averaged 7.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 37 games as a freshman in Louisville. He made the ACC All-Rookie Team that year. Rozier led his team in scoring as a sophomore with 17.1 points per game.
He was selected by the Boston Celtics in the 2015 NBA draft with their 16th overall pick. Rozier hit his first career triple-double in his first NBA start on January 31, 2018.
Terry Rozier was traded to the Charlotte Hornets on July 6, 2019, in a deal involving Kemba Walker. He signed a three-year, $56.7 million contract in the process. After impressive performances in the Hornets jersey, Rozier was rewarded with a four-year, $97 million contract extension on August 24, 2021.
On January 24th, 2023, Rozier was traded yet again, this time to the Miami Heat.
